Olhares do Morro 2002-2008
Olhares do Morro is a youth media project that I developed from 2002 to 2008 in the favela Santa Marta in Rio de Janeiro, training young local photographers.
There's a long interview in Portuguese telling the whole story, here.
2005.. Olhares do Morro´s "wild workshop" was still based in Santa Marta´s favela. It is now located in the old center of Rio de Janeiro (in Lapa), where we are installed now, with more facility to receive young photographers from all favelas, as well as the collectors & picture editors & journalists interested by our work.
2005 was the Year of Brazil in France. For this occasion, France3 recorded their leading cultural & documentary show "Des Racines & des Ailes" in Rio de Janeiro, at the Itamaraty Palace. Among guests, Vincent Rosenblatt - coordinator & creator of Olhares do Morro - an image agency of the favelas, had an opportunity to present the work of the young photographers from Rio´s favelas.
